André Hommrich — Full-Stack Developer
Hi
I'm André
Building solutions that last.
Sharing knowledge and always learning.
From the electrical trade to software development.
Getting through the day with music.
Free time on foot and with four paws.
Who am I?
My name is André Hommrich. I'm 29 years old and live in the Westerwald region of Germany. What drives me most is the question of why things work the way they do. I rarely settle for an answer before I have truly understood it.
I started out in the trades, as an electronics technician for energy and building technology. Even then I always wanted to understand what was behind a task rather than just work through it. In software development, that habit of asking questions has become my most important tool. Here it pays off to fully grasp a problem before solving it.

Today I work full-time as a software developer on real-world projects. Alongside that, I build websites for smaller companies, local businesses and clubs, as well as private applications for myself, from the first idea to running them in production. What drives me is always the same standard: understand before you build, and build to last.
What I'm working on
As a full-stack web developer, I take an application from the first plan all the way into day-to-day operation. Much of what I build, I also run myself afterwards. That's why, even while developing, I make sure it will run reliably later on. For example, I check whether a backup can actually be restored when it matters, and I treat data protection as a fixed part of the technology, not as something you add at the end.
Over my years as a developer, I've noticed how well the job suits me: I'm constantly learning, and I get to work through problems that the first obvious solution doesn't settle. That's what I enjoy most about the work.
What I work with
My focus is back-end development with PHP, professionally with Symfony and privately with Laravel. On the front end I mainly work with Vue.js, React and TypeScript, and for styling with Tailwind CSS and Bootstrap. For mobile applications I bring experience with React Native. That way I build a project myself, from the database model to the interface. I use AI tools like Claude Code deliberately. They take routine work off my hands and make me faster. The decisions and the understanding stay with me.
Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines and databases with MySQL or MariaDB are part of my daily work. When I look after several websites, they run on a shared, self-hosted infrastructure, so I can handle maintenance and operation in one place instead of patching each one separately. I look at new frameworks and tools once they genuinely help with real tasks, not because they happen to be new.
